Eleanor Butzel Simon Memorial Endowment

Eleanor Butzel, a social worker, continued the public service record of her father, Michigan Supreme Court Justice Henry M. Butzel, and her philanthropic uncle, Fred M. Butzel. After receiving her masters degree at the University of Michigan in 1938, she worked as a psychiatric social worker at various agencies in St. Louis, Missouri and the Detroit metropolitan area

After her death, her husband, Erwin S. Simon and their family made contributions in her memory which constructed a beautiful park, gazebo and garden facility on the grounds of the Prentis Jewish Apartments.
