Application Process
Applications are processed according to the date they were
received at JAS.
The length of wait for an apartment depends on the
application date and the availability of apartments.
Separate wait lists are maintained for each JAS building.
Application dates are not transferred from building to building.
Prospective residents will receive written notification of their
processed applications from JAS within 30 days of
application receipt.
Prospective residents may choose to be on any or all of the
JAS building wait lists. However, residency is determined
based upon the first available vacancy. Prospective
residents will be notified of the first available unit. The
prospective residents will have 24 hours to decide if they
are interested in the apartment and if they want to continue
the interview process.
If the prospective resident cannot begin the intake process
when called, his/her application may be held in place for
twelve months if the following applies: selling a home, an
existing lease or documentable illness. The prospective
residents will have 30 days from the date of JAS
correspondence to provide written documentation verifying
their inability to move into JAS at the time an apartment
was offered. Failure to do so will result in the applicant's
name being placed on the bottom of the wait list.
If a prospective resident completes the JAS apartment
in-take process and decides to reject the apartment, the
prospective resident will be dropped from all JAS wait lists
for 3 months from the day the applicant rejected a
JAS apartment.
It is a prospective resident's responsibility to inform JAS
about any address or phone number changes by returning
an update sent every twenty-four months. Failure to return
the bi-annual update may result in voiding the application
for JAS residency.
