PRESCRIPTION PROGRAM FOR SENIORS
Prescription Program for Seniors Works to empower and
educate the JAS residents in order to address the root
causes of problems (both financial and societal) which
are faced by low-income senior citizens every day.
We involve the community in securing prescription
medications for low-income senior adults directly from
the pharmaceutical manufacturers at a low or no cost.
The need for PPS is staggering. Medicare does not cover
prescription medications. Third party insurance
companies are predicting or threatening to drop the
coverage of prescription medications in their perspective
plans. What sets the PPS program apart is our attention
to detail, streamlining the process. We do the paperwork
for the physician, making it signature-ready, to reduce
the amount of time a busy physician has to spend on
paperwork. We also do the paperwork for the senior
citizen who speaks Russian, Polish or Czech and cannot
read or write English. In other cases our workers assist
those who may have lost the cognitive abilities to
prepare it themselves. We also perform at home intakes
for those who are unable to leave their residences. The
PPS program is open to any JAS low-income resident
that needs our assistance; our program is always
listening to the needs of our community through
seminars, surveys, and community based outreach.
